The Motorola SBV5220 VoIP Cable Modem is a DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem.

Front View


After the cable modem is successfully registered on the network, the Power, DS, US, and Online lights are, illuminate continuously and the Link and Tel 1-2 lights flashes when the cable modem is transferring Data. For more details, refer to the Modem Lights section.
 
Back View

The Motorola SBV5220 Cable Modem has the following ports available on the back of the modem:
  1. Tel 1 - Telephone ports 1 provide connections for a telephone lines.
  2. Tel 2 - Telephone ports 2 provide connections for a telephone lines.
  3. POWER - Provides AC power to the VoIP cable modem.
  4. ETHERNET - Provides the connection to Ethernet equipped computers using a cable terminated with an RJ-45 connector.
  5. USB - Provides the connection to USB equipped computers.
  6. Reset - If you experience a problem, you can push this recessed button to reset the VoIP cable modem (see “Troubleshooting” on page 40). Resetting may take some time (5 to 30 minutes) because the VoIP cable modem must find and lock on the appropriate communications channels.
  7. CABLE - Provides the connection to the coaxial cable (coax) outlet.
 
Modem Lights

The lights indicate the current status of your cable modem. To troubleshoot any connection problems, use the table below

Flashing Startup diagnostics in progress. Verify all cable connections try resetting the modem. If connections is OK and modem reset does not work, contact customer support.
Off No Power Verify power supply connections and electrical outlet. Also make sure the outlet is not connected to a wall switch

(Downstreem)
Fast Flashing Scanning for a receive (downstream) channel connection.. If this is a new modem or a replacement modem, contac tyour ISPwith the MAC address. If there are several MAC addresses on the modem, use the HFC or RF MAC address. View MAC Address Label.

(Upstream)

On Normal condition indicating that AC power present and the battery is in good condition. N/A
Off No Battery / No AC powre  
Standby On Internet service blocked because the Standby button was pressed. If this light is on, all other lights are off, except for Tel 1 and Tel 2.  
 
 
Mac Address Label


MAC addresses are written as 12 Digits containing both letters and numbers (0-9, A-F). A MAC address is unique. The first six characters of the MAC address are unique to the manufacturer of the device.
